| Centering Prayer Retreat | ||

Led by Kess Frey and Fran Victor. During this retreat, participants will have the opportunity to experience centering prayer sessions, group prayer services, view videos from Contemplative Outreach, and take walks in an atmosphere of silence and beauty. Retreat begins Friday, August 15 at 6:30 for check-in and ends Tuesday, August 19 1:00pm. Fee for full retreat is $325; attending Friday through Sunday is $195. What are the Church's scriptural and theological understandings of the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, Penance, Annointing of the Sick along with the Rite of Christian Burial? + What are the stories of their development through history from the early days of the Church to the forms we now have? These questions will be explored in a four-session series offered on Saturday mornings at Holy Spirit Center from 9:00am - 12:00noon by a variety of presenters from around the diocese. September 6: Baptism and Confirmation; October 18: Eucharist; November 1: Reconciliation; December 6: Annointing of the Sick and the Rite of Christian Burial. | The Spiritual Solution of the 12 Steps | ||

Based on the 12 Steps, there will be a special emphasis on the way in which they present us with a spiritual solution to addiction. | Koinonia Retreat | ||

The Koinonia weekend focuses on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Although Catholic in sacramental and liturgical celebrations, it is open to all adults 21 and over. During the weekend participants will experience talks, sharing, liturgical celebrations and other activities that foster the experience of being church. Talks are presented by a variety of laity and clergy and include witness from their own lives. Check-in at 6:00 (snacks available); first session at 7:00. Prayer for those who are seriously ill and the Rite of Christian Burial are two events in which families, friends and faith communities can be involved in way that comfort and help bring meaning to these difficult events. This session will explore the teaching of the Catholic tradition and open up the role of those around the person who is ill or deceased. Fee: $25 for individual session. | Learning How to Be: Teachings on the Eight Beatitudes with Meditation in the Christian Tradition | ||

This retreat will be led by Bernie Owens, S.J. Fr. Bernie has a doctorate in Christian Spirituality and taught for 13 years at the University of Detroit. Since 1994, he has been the director of the Internship in Ignatian Spirituality out of Manresa Jesuit Retreat House in Bloomfield, MI. During this extended weekend beginning Thursday evening, Fr. Bernie will lead participants through the 8 beatitudes as guides for how we are to be as Christians. Interspersed will be optional group meditation sessions, daily Mass and time for rest and exercise.
